It was a warm, sunny day in the neighborhood, and Ella, a bright and lively 7-year-old girl, was walking to the park with her mother. She eagerly chattered about her plans to play on the swings and climb the jungle gym, her eyes shining with excitement.
As they arrived at the park, Ella dashed towards her favorite swing. She leaped onto it and soared through the air, feeling the wind in her hair and joy in her heart. Suddenly, she noticed a group of her friends playing on the other side of the park. She noticed they were playing with a new girl, and Ella felt a pang of loneliness in her chest.
She walked over to them and asked if she could play too. Her friends hesitated before saying that they already had the right number for their game. Disappointed, Ella walked away, her head filled with questions and her heart heavy with sadness.
Her mother noticed her dejected expression and came over. Sitting beside her, she gently asked, 'What's wrong, sweetheart?'
Ella explained what had happened and how she felt left out. Her mother listened with empathy, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. 'I understand how you're feeling, but sometimes new friendships need time to grow,' she said reassuringly. 'Why don't you try inviting the new girl to play with you?'
Ella nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. She approached the girl and asked if she'd like to join her on the swings. To her delight, the girl eagerly accepted. As they swung together, Ella's heart overflowed with joy, and she soon realized that embracing someone new can bring happiness too.
